I've had the pleasure of speaking with the real Marva Collins a few years ago, after watching the film above. I wanted to thank her for inspiring my own life. After combing the internet for contact information, I called with a little hesitation. Her husband answered, and just as I was about to shyly leave the phone, he said, "Hold on a moment; I want you to thank her yourself." I was stunned. Marva is a delightful woman who even invited me personally to come and work for her, after our lovely discussion about contemporary education. Of course, I was both surprised and thrilled at this sudden opportunity; unfortunately, I was unable to accept her beneficient offer because of certain constraints, then. In any case, I believe that Marva Collins is an inspiration for us all. Please, feel free to purchase her genius-laden book; it is filled with both Modern and Original Thought.
